2026 Results

The 2026 Banana Slug Backyard Ultra started with 64 runners at 7:00 AM on Friday, April 24 and ended at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 27 after Scott Martin was the only runner to complete the course a 78th time in under 78 hours, covering a total distance of 325 miles.

Congratulations to Scott on a number of accomplishments. While setting a new personal best of 78 hourse/325 miles, he also broke Julija Šorytė's previous course record of 54 loops from 2025. This was Scott's 4th time to win the Banana Slug Backyard Ultra in its 5-year history.

Congratulations as well to Megan Smyth who delivered the assist by completing the course 77 times in under 77 hourse, covering a distance of 320.83 miles. At the time of this race, only 2 women in the world have ever delivered a longer performance in a backyard ultra: Sarah Perry of Great Britain ran 95 hours (395.83 miles) and Megan Eckert of USA ran 92 hours (383.33 miles) both in 2025.

Of special mention this year is that 23 runners completed the 24th loop (100 miles). This breaks the course record from 2025 when 20 runners reached that milestone. Each of these runners earned a 100-mile coin for this accomplishment. Congratulations to these 23: David Mitchell, Derek Knight, Eric Cabral, Eric Hallsten, Eric Yan, Evan Egener, Gaelen Watt, Jacob Goltry, Jason Wilde, Joshua Niggli, Julija Šorytė, Kevin Moore, Lizzy Fowler, Megan Smyth, Micah Morgan, Mikal Pattee, Molly Lucas, Pam Smith, Rokas Žičkevičius, Ryan McIrvin, Scott Martin, Tyler Clements, and Tyler Rocha

Congratulations to all 64 runners that participated. We counted at least 17 runners that set a new person record either by completing more loops that in any previous backyard ultrs, or else by running further than they had ever run before. We hope that many will come back in the future for yet another chance to ring the PR bell.
