I'm a Portland local who has gotten into running in the past few years—it's been a great way to explore trails, meet people, and push myself. I just wrapped up my first marathon in 2024, and I'm really excited to try my first ultra here! Thrilled to meet everyone at the start line, over and over, and be part of an event where we can all yell at each other to just "do one more".

I’m a local middle aged runner looking for a new challenge. Love trails. Love running with friends and being outside as much as possible. I’m not smart enough to be nervous yet but that will come.

After falling in love with backpacking the great outdoors, I decided it was time to move from the dusty hills of SoCal to the lush landscape of the PNW. Trail running became a natural progression of endurance, allowing me to combine the adrenaline of mountain biking with the exploration of backpacking. Since 2023 I have raced several trail marathons, but the Banana Slug Backyard 24 will be my first of this format and of this distance. I am really excited to meet all of the crazy competitors and to see how the body and mind hold out!

Hey, my name is Sebastian. This will be my first backyard style running event and am looking forward to the mental challenge of starting new laps after some degree of rest (maybe). My training sessions are composed of sleepless nights caring for young children, double child squats, late night dog walks/runs, and scattered ill-prepared impulse long runs. I also love crumby weather. See you out on the trail!

I’m a long-time Banana Slug crew, but first time runner. I transitioned from endurance triathlon to ultrarunning in 2017, and have enjoyed running races of all formats and distances in the Pacific Northwest and the Colorado Rockies. The backyard format is new and challenging to me, and I’m excited to test my limits alongside my awesome teammates, the Sluggernauts. What I love about trail running most is the community, and I have seen how special and unique the Banana Slug community is over the past three years. Looking forward to seeing everyone out at Champoeg!
